Why Should We Support Temple Protection ?

The famous temples in India, including those in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh states, were built by emperors and kings in ancient times. The Kakatiya kings played a significant role in constructing several historic and famous temples in these regions.

During the periods of Mughal and British rule in India, temples did face vandalism and damage. These foreign rulers often had different cultural and religious beliefs, and unfortunately, temples were not spared from their actions. The colonial era saw instances of temple destruction and appropriation of their wealth.

Present Endowment Department was established to manage and administer the properties and income of temples, among other religious institutions. While the department's primary intention was to oversee the proper functioning and use of temple resources, there have been cases of misappropriation and misuse of temple funds.

The sentiment that every rupee contributed by devotees should be used for the maintenance and development of temples is reasonable. Many devotees believe that their donations are meant for the upkeep and improvement of the sacred places they visit. It is unfortunate the department has failed to protect temples, temple lands and temple funds.

The collective efforts Hindus, Dharmic institutions and citizens is essential in safeguarding India's temples and cultural traditions for future generations.
